The place.

The major bowling alley in Falun, Sweden uses the display management and control system capabilities of Blocks in a unique way as part of their game automation system.

The brief.

Falun bowling wanted a unique experience for their guests.
This should have engaging content, triggered by interesting bowling events such as someone getting a strike, but also compelling ambient content, support for live feeds and commercials.

The delivery.

Together with Amtech we designed a huge LED wall driven from a WATCHOUT system. PIXILAB Blocks provided the connection to the Bowling automation system, triggering clips above the correct alley when significant (or embarrasing) events occur, based on an XML data feed. PIXILAB Blocks also provided the interactive frontend used by the staff to control the display system and choose desired content.

The setup

• PIXILAB Blocks server, connecting the bowling automation system and touch panels to the 6.6mm (17.5x2.5m) LED wall.
• Android-based touch panels for system operation.
• One Dataton WATCHPAX2 dual-output media player.
